Jeremy Constant
After winning the Grand Prize in the 1979 Du Maurier competition in Canada, Mr. Constant chose to continue his studies in New York with Ivan Galamian and then with the great violinist Itzhak Perlman. Mr. Constant decided to make the San Francisco Bay Area his home after participating in the Carmel Bach festival with Sandor Salgo (1979). An active musician, Mr. Constant joined the San Francisco Opera orchestra in 1980, the San Francisco Symphony in 1984 (with whom he continues to perform as Assistant Concertmaster), and the Marin Symphony as Concertmaster in 1994. In 2000, Mr. Constant became Concertmaster of the Sun Valley Summer Symphony. He is a frequent soloist with these orchestras and a participant in the Edgar M. Bronfman Chamber Series, Chamber Music Sundays, and many other chamber music series.
As an active soloist and chamber musician both here and abroad, Mr. Constant has performed on radio and television around the world. He was violinist in the San Francisco Piano Trio, and a founding member of the Navarro Trio and Navarro Quartet. He can be seen and heard as Assistant Concertmaster on both their Grammy Award winning recordings and the ongoing “Keeping Score” television productions by the San Francisco Symphony.
Mr. Constant plays the ex-Heberlein Stradivarius, from the year 1700. This Golden Period Stradivarius was donated to the San Francisco Symphony for Mr. Constant’s exclusive use.
Residing in Oakland with his wife Sharon, an artist and graphic designer, Mr. Constant is a pilot who is currently building his own airplane.
