The 100-member Chorus of the Marin Symphony is featured in a Masterworks program each concert season. This year, the chorus sings the powerful Gloria by Poulenc, and the enchanting Daphnis & Chloe, 2nd Suite, by Ravel. Performances are Saturday, March 4th & Sunday, March 5th, 2023, at the Masterworks 3 concert, billed with pianist David Fung playing the Ravel Piano Concerto in G major. Marin Symphony Chorus consists of some of the finest vocalists in Marin County. In years past, they have performed works with the Marin Symphony such as Prokoviev’s Cantata Alexander Nevsky, Orff’s Carmina Burana and Requiems by Brahms, Duruflé, Fauré and Mozart, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, and the exciting premiere of Rob Kapilow’s Chrysopylae/Golden Gate Opus in 2012. Marin Symphony Chamber Chorus annually performs the magical Holiday Choral Concerts at St. Raphael’s Church in downtown San Rafael. These candlelight concerts are presented on the first weekend of December and include a mix of world and traditional holiday music, featured youth choirs, vocal soloists, Marin Symphony instrumentalists, and audience-sung carols.
It is an honor to feature Kevin Fox as Marin Symphony’s Choral Director. Born and raised in San Francisco, he has enjoyed a rich and diverse career as a singer, conductor, and teacher. He brings a fresh and energetic approach to the chorus, with an engaging mixture of warmth, expertise, and enthusiasm. Auditions are scheduled for December 2022, by appointment.
