SYMPHONY@SCHOOLS

|
Symphony@Schools
is an innovative outreach program that brings symphonic
music into the schools, and students into the concert
hall. It is designed to challenge and train all levels
of young people in musical awareness. To pique students’
interest, Symphony@Schools offers performances by symphony
musicians, meetings with musicians (when possible) and
complimentary tickets to Marin Symphony performances.

SIT-IN CONCERTS
Sit-In
Concerts are essentially open rehearsals performed
by the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra. Their purpose
is to introduce young people to live, ensemble performance.
Children in the “audience” literally sit beside and
among the orchestra members so as to observe the
sights, sounds, skills and magic of musicianship
firsthand.
Sit-In Concerts
also regularly feature a “petting zoo,” an instructive
and endearing session after the concert where Youth
Orchestra members allow the young members of the
audience to try the musical instruments out for themselves.
The aspirations of many a young musician have been
forged in our petting zoos!
